Oh, take me back to France!

I love to read about travel and people’s adventures in France. I know you do too. Explore the books about getting to France, getting around and dreaming of making the move there.

Pardon My French
An Australian family learning a lot in southern France

Author: Rachel Mogan McIntosh

I loved this book. There I have said it. I have pinned my colours to the mast and made a big statement.  Its the true-life story of an Australian family (mum, dad and three children) who head to Sommières, southern France for a year. Mum is the author and what a funny author she is.  This is Rachael and her husband Keiths dream – to take the children on a ‘character building’, ‘life changing’ experience. It takes a lot of effort, lists of things to be done and then, voila, here they are. Maybe I loved it because I am a ‘kiwi’ (from New Zealand, which neighbours Australia) and I got the jokes within the writing, the humour, and the experiences. Or maybe it was just that I had never read a book before about taking a young family to France.

My French Platter

Author: Annemarie Rawson

A journey to a dream life in France.

The first sentence of this book felt familiar: “For years I had been searching for something that I truly wanted to do with my life”.  I think a lot of us that could relate to that sentiment, the quest for fulfilment and purpose.

Annemarie is a fellow ‘kiwi’ (New Zealander). I was keen as mustard to read this, her first book in a series, about her adventures overseas.

I was keen not only because Annemarie is from my neck of the woods and this, her first book, is set in France but because she sounded like me – moving between phases in her life and ready to enjoy some real ‘doing what I feel like’ time. Whether retirements on the horizon (ahem), the children have flown the coop, or you have a chance for some time out; we can all understand the hankering for something new.
